Book Reviews and Awards, Do They Make a Difference in Book Sales?

4/25, 3:45PM

We’ll take a close look at what can move the needle for book sales, and specifically is there any correlation of a book review (good or bad) or award that makes a difference in book sales.

As we know there are a combination of factors for book sales, with reviews and awards playing a significant, though sometimes nuanced, role. From preorder sales to book signings, we’ll discuss their role in marketing, promotion, and new opportunities.

We’ll discuss the effect of little to no book reviews and awards, and if there can there be too many. And what to do if an author’s book receives a bad review. We’ll touch on media appearances and mentions, social media, book covers and positioning against competitive titles.

Lastly, we discuss how to best capitalize on reviews and awards, and what is and is not automatic in translating them to book sales.
