The BookCAMP event grew out of a quarterly magazine BookCAMP, which addresses authors and publishers' business challenges of book publishing.

CRAFTING AND MARKETING A SERIES Presented by Lee Woodman.
Poet Lee Woodman will demonstrate how she created the umbrella, “SCAPES” for her poetry collections and how it spurs marketing. Her session at BookCAMP will show how she brings color and personality to a body of work. Woodman will share craft ideas that apply to all genres for place, character, and narrative, and discuss key elements of branding and outreach. Focus will include promotion calendars, blurbs and reviews, dynamic websites, presentations, mailings, and the importance of being a good writing citizen.

This class gives writers a behind-the-scenes look at what publishers want—and what often holds good manuscripts back. Participants will learn how to make final edits that elevate a manuscript from “almost” to “offer.” We’ll cover structure, pacing, market fit, and subtle craft choices that show editorial readiness.

Gloria Mindock, Poet, Founding Editor and Publisher of ÄŒervená Barva Press
Mindock is an award-winning author of six poetry collections, two translations into Romanian and Serbian, and three chapbooks. Her poems have been published and translated into twelve languages. Publications include: Ibbetson, Gargoyle, The James Dickey Review, Growth: Journal of Literature, Culture, & Art (Macedonia), Unlikely Stories, Lily Poetry Review, KGB Lit to name a few.
Gloria was the Poet Laureate in Somerville, MA in 2017 & 2018.
Lancelot Schaubert, Poet,
Writer, Author, Performative Reading
As the author of the novel "Bell Hammers," praised as "a hoot" by Publisher’s Weekly, Schaubert has published dozens of stories, hundreds of poems and essays.
A full voting member of the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers Association, Schaubert edits "The Showbear Family Circus" and the anthology series "Of Gods and Globes." Schaubert believes art should change us for the better, motivating us to be true and good. My goal is to create work that fosters virtue in both myself and others.

Philanthropist, advocate for the arts and acclaimed poet, has served the art world and literary arts community as a museum pioneer, educator, business woman, and writer.
Lee Woodman, known as an award-winning public radio producer at the Library of Congress, and a film and multimedia producer at the Smithsonian Institution, Woodman has used the power of words and images to educate and enlighten broad audiences.
